Game Notes

Games 7 & 8:

Game 7: Solidarity vs. Flyin' Lions

We knew coming into this weeks double header knowing that we would not have Jon, James, or Caitlyn, all for various reasons. This meant that we would have no substitutes, which, for a double header, is a scary scenario. While warming up, we noticed that Flyin' seemed fairly amateurish (similar to Solidarity last year), which helped build our confidence level before gametime. Once the game actually began, however, we realized how little skill Flyin' actually had. We jumped to a 7-0 lead in close to no time and with little effort, only having to drive down the length of the field once or twice. The second half was slightly tougher. We were pushed back into our endzone multiple times and Flyin' nearly scored at least once. At the end of the day, however, Solidarity pulled off a 13-0 shutout victory; our second victory of the year and first ever shutout. We were hoping our momentum would carry over to our game against Computer Blue, a very formidable opponent.

FINAL SCORE: 13-0 WIN

Game 8: Solidarity vs. Computer Blue

Within the first few minutes of our game against Computer Blue we realized that this would not be an easy game. Blue was very quick to the disc and made excellent throws nearly every possession, meaning our offense would have to step it up a notch to make up for our lackluster defense. Computer Blue ran a cup variation that featured several zones, including one "deep man" to guard against the deep throw. In what may have been one of Solidarity's greatest strategic moves ever, we decided to send two cutters deep to split the "deep man's" coverage. This worked, and enabled us to score two points. The score, however, does not represent how good our decision making was during this game.

FINAL SCORE: 13-2 LOSS
